| InGrid Delves Into Digital Home Protection
InGrid just unveiled the first digital home protection products available for distribution through broadband providers. Digital home protection promises to solve many of the major shortcomings of analog security systems, such as false alarms, short battery life, and high vulnerability to intruders. Using wireless technologies, InGrid creates an invisible grid of security throughout the entire home, offering protection and control without extensive installation costs. InGrid's protection network is comprised of a portable handset and broadband-enabled base station that communicates with wireless self-adhering window and door sensors that immediately report any change in activity you choose to monitor. Broadband integration keeps the system always on and always connected to its monitoring service, and all components can plug into one or more telephone jacks for back-up if broadband service is interrupted.
Sanofi, Taiho have positive S-1 cancer drug trials
PARIS, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Sanofi-Aventis and Taiho Pharmaceutical said final-stage clinical study results of their S-1 oral stomach cancer drug showed it "significantly" improved chances of survival compared with just having surgery. French drugmaker Sanofi-Aventis and Japanese drugmaker Taiho said on Friday that patients with early stage stomach cancer who had been treated with S-1 had a 32 percent lower risk of dying from the disease than those who were treated by surgery. The drug had met both its trial goals, and the companies said in a joint statement it was one of the most important advances in early stage gastric cancer in 40 years. Stomach cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the world, with more than 700,000 deaths a year. The main goal of the Phase III trial on 1,059 Japanese patients was to demonstrate overall survival.

Spitzer reimburses donor for fundraising, travel costs
ALBANY, N.Y. Governor Eliot Spitzer's campaign returned about 110-thousand dollars to a contributor who is part of a group bidding for the state's lucrative thoroughbred racing franchise. A filing with the state Board of Elections shows Spitzer's campaign reimbursed companies run by casino developer Richard Fields. The money paid for the costs of a July 18 fundraiser thrown for Spitzer at Fields' home in Wyoming, flights, hotel and car expenses, and security. A Spitzer spokeswoman says Fields was reimbursed because his companies exceeded the limit on individual donations allowed under state law. In November, a state racing committee recommended awarding the thoroughbred franchise to Excelsior Racing Associates, a group headed by New York Yankees partner Steve Swindal and Fields.
